Talking Turkeys, written by Benjamin Zephaniah, children's book cover design for Penguin student Design Award 2021. From the self-titled 'Talking Turkeys', Benjamin Zephaniah mentions how "Turkeys just wanna play reggae / Turkeys just wanna hip-hop" and this quirky idea hugely inspired my cover design. Based on these lines, I designed a DJ turkey character talking on the microphone while appearing like he is fun and playful. The dark and simple background was chosen to make the turkey bold and outstanding as the main focus, and I used hand-drawn texture for illustration and handwriting typography to give the conversational style.
